In this sermon on how to do daily quiet time with God, we’re reminded that as a Christian, there is nothing more important.
The Most Important Thing for a Christian to Do Each Day
As a Christian, there is just one most important thing you should do each day. It’s time alone with God. A daily quiet time, and time spent in prayer, can change your life.
How to Do Daily Quiet Time
Matthew 6:9–13 The Living Bible
“Pray along these lines: ‘Our Father in heaven, we honor your holy name. We ask that your kingdom will come now. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. Give us our food again today, as usual, and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. Don’t bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One. Amen.’
Following a model set out by Rick Warren, I want to suggest a pattern you can pray based on Jesus’ words in this passage:
Think About How Much God Loves You
Get to know God. Get connected to him. Experience his love and watch as your fears, your anxiety, your worries start to wash away.
Offer Your Life to be Used Today
“We ask that your kingdom will come now. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven”. That’s offering your life to the Lord.
Tell God You’re Trusting Him to Meet Your Needs
Tell God you’re trusting him to meet all your needs. “Give us our food again today, as usual”. We’re talking about whatever it is that you need to survive.
Ask God to Heal Your Relationships – with Him and with Others
This prayer enables you to put down the heavy bags of guilt and resentment you’re carrying round with you.
Ask God for the Strength You Need
“Don’t bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One”. Ask God for help in the areas you’re struggling in.
Thank God for his Ultimate Victory
No matter what you day entails, choose to thank God.
Power in Prayer
There is power in prayer. The power to change your life. Will you commit to it?
