Here’s a round up of this week’s posts and the top leadership and productivity articles I’ve read this week for the spiritual leader and others. You’ll also find a summary of this week’s content on equippinghispeople.com.
Here are the top five articles on leadership or productivity I’ve read this past week:
The only way I have found to sustain ministry as a spiritual leader is to set boundaries and to manage my people’s expectations. David helps here by setting out six boundary markers to lay down. If a congregation can do even some of these, then with the Lord’s blessing, it will lay a wonderful foundation for a sustainable ministry.
As far as I am concerned, the most important thing I can do as a preacher is ensure each sermon has a life application point in it. If you cannot go away from listening to one of my sermons and apply what you’ve heard to your daily life, then I have failed as a preacher. I therefore appreciate Mike’s post to ensure my life application point doesn’t get stuck in the rut of being the same type each time. Mike lists three dimensions.
As a spiritual leader, there has to be a way to get your head out of the clouds, above the whirlwind and see what is happening and work on the right things. Josh sets out the way that he and his team does this. There are some great ideas here, which I am working on implementing.
This is not a confession about my relationship with my congregation! I haven’t ever gotten to a stage where I haven’t loved my congregation (wherever that has been) as a whole. But I must admit to having unloving thoughts about individual members. This post has some helpful things to do when this happens.
Leaders need passion, tenacity and stamina that enables them to stick with their goals until they become a reality. Travis lists ten things mentally strong people habitually do that no one else is willing to do. There are a number I need to continue working on.
