Here’s a round up of this week’s posts and the top leadership and productivity articles I’ve read this week, giving church leader insights from a variety of sources. You’ll also find a summary of this week’s content on www.equippinghispeople.com.
Here are the top five articles on leadership or productivity with church leader insights I’ve read this past week:
I have long felt that character is the most important thing we can work on as leaders, especially Christian leaders. It ought to be a distinguishing feature! Carey provides a good reminder, along with some “new” character rules to remember. I continue to work on closing the gap between my public and private self, and these rules give me something more to work on.
Some great reminders from Rich. I know I am too busy on the days I rush off without completing my Daily Startup Ritual, which includes reviewing and recommitting to my schedule for the day. That ritual also includes deciding on my Big 3 Tasks for the day, ensuring I am focused, however busy I am.
I was particularly drawn to Rich’s last two points, which I hadn’t necessarily considered before. Sometimes, I get so focused on what I need to get done, I fail to ask for help. Do that too many times, and there is a sense of loneliness. I need to rely on my community more!
A great summary from Brandon. I was particularly grateful for the reminder to pray over my preparation and especially to edit! I really struggle to reduce my notes, because I feel I am less “in depth” when I do. But having read this article, I’m convinced again that comes down to practice, practice, practice, so that more of what I have prepared is internalised.
This post isn’t particularly written with the Christian leader in mind. But as a Christian leader, I sometimes have to offer criticism. I hope that when I provide it, it is constructive. David’s article helpfully takes my thinking further. The reminder to pray for them first is a salutary one, and I found his comments on having all the information correct first a helpful one too. I have been caught out in the past by launching into a criticism only to end up with egg on my face because there was something I didn’t know!
Again, this post in’t necessarily directed to Christian leaders. But aware that I often complain about the impact mobile technology can have on ministry, I was pleased to read this article with some positive views on how to use it. There are a number of activities Jen mentions that I have not thought of before.
