Here’s a round up of the top leadership and productivity posts to read this week, from a variety of Christian leader blogs. You’ll also find a summary of this week’s content on www.equippinghispeople.com.
Here are the top five posts to read on leadership or productivity from Christian leader blogs I’ve read this past week:
I suffer from Parkinson’s Law, always thinking I have more time to finish what I am doing and that it will take me less time to get to my next appointment. So this post by Shawn has pulled me up short. I have used more than one of his excuses and I am painfully aware of what my lateness communicates. A good reminder of what punctuality communicates instead. Time to get better at this!
Agnes argues the Puritan logic of the Sabbath does much better than our current advice to guard something important about human life from the insidious grasp of the world of work. At its best, productivity advice about creating distance from work is mere expedient for the sake of work. You take a break so you can be more productive later. This is exactly backwards. Those suggesting Sabbath are right.
Following the life of Pastor James Petigru Boyce, Allen sets out six characteristics of a successful pastorate, including soul-winning, instructing on doctrine and duties, the increase in holiness amongst the flock, equipping saints for ministry, helping members to give and developing the power of prayer in the church. A great list to measure our effectiveness!
Sadly, I have to admit there has been more than one time when I have found myself in the eight situations Chuck mentions, and haven’t bitten my tongue. I’m still learning!
Chris and I share a private rule about evening meetings! I totally buy into his other rules too. What I hadn’t appreciated until I read his post is that these rules are even more important when it comes to evening meetings. Your leadership team, PCC or whomever you meet in the evening will thank you for reading this post!
